Army Innovation Day 2021 (AID21)

Hydrogen at Home presents innovative hydrogen technology to Chief of Army, thanks to Lieutenant General Rick Burr for posting the picture below on Twitter @ChiefAusArmy.

Hydrogen at Home was invited to attend AID21 which has a focus on renewable energy technologies and alternate fuels. Members of Army’s senior leadership team visited AID21 during breakout sessions from the Chief of Army’s symposium allowing many opportunities to present Hydrogen at Home’s innovative technology solutions to Army’s current and future leaders.

Hydrogen at Home Founder and Director, Jeff Lyons, presented technology solutions for the future use of hydrogen fuel on the battlefield to Lieutenant General Rick Burr, AO, DSC, MVO.

Hydrogen has potential use as a future alternate battlefield fuel. It can be made in the field using sunlight and water then compressed and stored for use on site.

Tactical use cases for the hydrogen include electricity generation (using a fuel cell), fueling hydrogen vehicles/UAV and providing inter-seasonal energy storage. Hydrogen compliments batteries and provides an alternative energy source when range or duration exceeds battery capability.

Logistics efficiency gains can be achieved through the production and consumption of hydrogen fuel in the tactical environment, reducing the need for fuel resupply. Hydrogen has the potential to provide Army with increased energy resilience, self sufficiency and independence.

Selected participants will be invited to submit detailed proposals.
